- Write a thesis proposal and present it to the team's committee
- Identify/describe instruments, research sites, and/or individuals required for the team to conduct its study
- Contact team librarian to review thesis proposal
- Identify experts to provide feedback and assistance with the research
- Submit IRB and/or IACUC no later than August 2022 (if necessary)
- Continue to collect and review sources for final thesis
- Develop a team budget
- Begin early prototyping process
Fall 2022
- Continue research and prototyping
- Present team's research and progress to date at fall Colloquia
- Create a detailed outline of final thesis
- Continue to review literature on the research topic and draft portions of the final thesis
- Identify experts outside of the team (within and outside of the University) who can help guide the project
- Identify scholarly meetings, conferences, and/or journals that could be a forum for the research
- Continue to identify possible funding sources and apply for grants
Spring 2023
- Finish data collection and be close to completing data analysis by the end of the year
- Produce initial draft of final thesis and obtain feedback
- Revise thesis based on feedback
- Present a poster at Undergraduate Research Day (April)
- Continue to identify possible funding sources and apply for grants
- Continue to identify scholarly meetings, conferences, and/or journals that could be a forum for the research
Fall 2023
- Attend Gemstone senior orientation (September)
- Complete data analysis within the first month of the semester
- Have a complete draft of the entire thesis finished by the end of the semester
- Revise thesis based on completed research and suggestions from expert contacts, future discussants, and team mentor/librarian
- Prepare a draft of the team's presentation for Team Thesis Conference rehearsal by the end of the semester
- Submit to Gemstone the names of at least five experts whom have been invited and have agreed to be reviewers/discussants at Thesis Conference
Spring 2024
- Practice presentation at Rehearsal (early February)
- Submit final team information as requested by Gemstone Staff (due date TBA)
- Complete team thesis and submit draft to Gemstone (due date TBA, usually late February/early March)
- Present and defend team thesis at Team Thesis Conference
- Submit final thesis including changes suggested by discussants
- Team mentor must sign off on final thesis
- Attend Gemstone Citation Ceremony
